Bounce Houses Get Your Kids Up, Out And Moving

Everyone has heard of “moon rooms” or “moon houses. They are large inflated “houses” at carnivals with a pillow-like floor that people can go in and jump around on. It’s like a cross between an air pillow and a trampoline and kids of all ages love going in them and bouncing around. Small, kid size versions of these are available for back yard playgrounds and are called either a Bounce House or jumping house which give kids hours and hours of safe entertainment during the summer.

The best thing about bounce houses is the fact that kids have a blast playing in a safe environment. Not only are the floors a soft, bouncy pillow like those in a moon house, but with the posts and rails being inflatable also, it is virtually impossible for a child to get hurt while they are playing in one. Safety is always a big issue when discussing outdoor playthings so knowing your child is in a safe environment is comforting. However that’s not the only great thing about bounce houses.

With bounce houses, your kids won’t be sitting inside the house, playing PlayStation or Xbox all day, glued to the TV watching mindless shows or getting in the way when you are trying to get things done because they love to play in them. And not only are they burning off tons of energy, which means they’ll be good and ready for that afternoon nap or ready for bed at bedtime, but they’re getting that much needed exercise they need to be healthy. Being outside in the fresh air and sunshine is also healthy for kids as the body needs to be exposed to the sun for Vitamin D absorption and so other healthy processes takes place.

Bounce houses give kids hours of safe, healthy play and they love to be outside playing in them. And because the parents know that the kids are getting some much needed exercise in a safe environment and gets them out of the house into the outdoors which lets them do all those parent things like laundry, cleaning or just relaxing, they love them too. And when the summer is over, you simply have to deflate, fold and pack the bounce house to store it for the winter. Mitchell sings more clearly and expressively than on prior albums, most strikingly so on “Woodstock,” her celebration of the pivotal 1960s New York rock festival. This number, given a haunting electric piano accompaniment, is sung in a gutsy, raw, soulful manner; the selection proves amply that pop music anthems don’t all have to be loud production numbers. Songs here take many moods, ranging from the sunny, easygoing “Morning Morgantown” (a charming small-town portrait) to the nervously energetic “Conversation” (about a love triangle in the making) to the cryptically spooky “The Priest” (presenting the speaker’s love for a Spartan man) to the sweetly sentimental classic “The Circle Game” (denoting the passage of time in touching terms) to the bouncy and vibrant single “Big Yellow Taxi” (with humorous lyrics on ecological matters) to the plummy, sumptuous title track (a celebration of creativity in all its manifestations). Stately waltz “Oh, The Divorces!” observes the seemingly inexorable progression of marriages dissolving around her with a creeping unease barely masked by its Sondheim-worthy elegance and verbal wit (“he was a charmer/I wish him bad karma”), and is deftly juxtaposed with the childhood nostalgia of “Long White Dress,” concerning a life-long dread of weddings. USED: Back for More: A Remix Collection $7.98 Kudu are Back for More, taking another bite of their 2006 Death of the Party album. Fans hoping for a new set from the Big Apple electro-pop trio will initially be disappointed, but that feeling will fade once they slap this disc into their CD players. The set revolves around souped-up remodels of Party tracks, but also includes their much sought-after 2006 single “Boom Boom!! [Black Blonde Mix],” “Cannibal [Bite Me Mix],” a number from their eponymous debut EP, and a brand new song. Most of the remixes turn the originals inside out, and never more so than the title track, which transforms a bouncy number into a slinky big-band extravaganza that snakes between the Creatures, the Specials, and Massive Attack. Elsewhere, the quirky, no wavey “Black Betty” is doused in the blues, “Suite Life”‘s thumping club styling is reworked into a trance delight, and the synth pop “Hot Lava” rockets into outer space. On “Let’s Finish,” the group departed from its usual sound to explore funk and hip-hop; a tongue-in-cheek Sinden remodels it into a coursing synth pop delight. Not every remix is a total makeover; Ling Ling is content to add savory atmospheres to “Playing House,” while Kudu themselves emphasize the tribal and jungle elements inherent in “King Kong.” It’s obvious that all the remixers had a grand time playing with each of their Party tracks; King Britt obviously so, strewing “Bar Star” with classic rock guitar licks and space-age effects. Armand Van Helden goes the opposite direction on the collaborative new number “Your Words,” accentuating the band’s love of pumping rhythms and infectious, shadowed melodies.
